Join the Movement for Community-Led E-Mobility Cooperatives
The transition to electric mobility is a critical step towards achieving climate neutrality, but it must be a fair and inclusive one. The current market, often driven by private interests, risks creating higher charging prices and services that exclude the broader community.
The Community Mobility Cooperatives project is part of the European Climate Initiative (EUKI) of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU). It focuses on advancing shared e-mobility solutions in Slovenia, Romania, North Macedonia, and Serbia.
Project Goals and Mission
Our project aims to explore how communities in Southeast Europe (SEE) can adopt cooperative models for mobility and scale them effectively. In Serbia, the initiative is driven by the Platform for Energy Transition, working to overcome local challenges and support the development of community-led mobility solutions.
The project's key goals are:
Encourage Citizen Participation: To empower citizens to actively engage in energy transition initiatives, particularly in community-led e-mobility projects.
Support the Development of Community Mobility Co-operatives: To work on setting up community-led EV infrastructure, focusing on shared charging stations and cooperative mobility solutions.
Address Key E-Mobility Challenges: To overcome infrastructure limitations, unclear regulations, and low adoption of electric vehicles in the participating countries.
Facilitate Business Model Development: To assist local groups in creating viable business models for Community Mobility Cooperatives, ensuring long-term sustainability.
Financial Grant Opportunity & Regional Eligibility
As part of our commitment to providing tangible support, we will be announcing a Financial Grant to foster the establishment of initial Community Mobility Cooperatives.
Regional Eligibility: Eligible legal entities (initiatives, organizations, and citizens) from Serbia, North Macedonia, Croatia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina are encouraged to participate, as they are eligible to apply for this grant!
