Study Visit to Cres, Kvarner, and Opatija
We are pleased to announce a study visit to Cres, Kvarner, and Opatija, which will take place from October 8th to 10th, 2025.
The purpose of the visit is to exchange experience and knowledge on implementing citizen energy projects and local energy transition in the Republic of Croatia. The program will focus on key topics such as energy communities and cooperatives, innovative environmental protection initiatives, and community resilience to climate change.
This visit is intended for energy managers, local energy policy makers from Serbia, public officials, representatives of civil society organizations supporting the establishment and operation of energy communities, and media representatives.
Program Highlights:
Cres Island: Participants will meet with representatives of the local Energy Community Otok Cres and the Island Development Agency – OTRA.
Opatija: At the Hubbazia business incubator, the participants will hear about the city's energy transition, the results of the LIFE DISCOVER project, and the Northern Adriatic Energy Community management platform.
Practical Examples: A visit to JKP Komunalac, including a tour of their recycling yard and solar power plants.
Sustainable Tourism: A visit to Učka Nature Park and its Interpretation Center will conclude the program
This study visit is organized by the Platform for Energy Transition (PET) as part of the project "Strengthening the Role of Energy Managers in the Local Energy Transition in Serbia". The project is supported by German Development Cooperation in Serbia, which is implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für International Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
