PET Youth NET - Preparing the Next Generation of Energy Leaders
Recently, PET launched PET Youth NET school, a new educational program in Serbia aimed at empowering young people to actively participate in shaping a sustainable energy future.
PET Youth NET
The initiative commenced with introductory sessions at the Science and Technology Park Niš. Participants, including students and young professionals from diverse academic backgrounds, delved into foundational concepts such as energy communities, energy efficiency, and the broader aspects of energy transition. A key focus was on how local solutions, like citizen energy initiatives, can foster a more democratic and just energy system.
This initial phase is the start of a multi-month program that officially began last week. The PET Youth NET School will feature a structured series of workshops, field visits, and mentoring sessions. Participants will collaborate in small teams to develop their own initiatives, gaining knowledge in policy, technology, advocacy, collective action, and project development.
PET Youth NET
PET Youth NET is a component of PET's wider strategy to equip the next generation to lead the energy transition in Serbia. Recognizing the escalating climate crisis and the urgency of energy issues, the program emphasizes that the involvement of young people, from Niš and across Serbia, is crucial.
Further updates are anticipated as the participants progress in their work and contribute to building future energy communities.
